Caring for an old lady.

I'm not sure what caused me to come to the conclusion to start writing my thoughts down, however here I am, sat in the kitchen keeping an eye on K as she snoozes.

I've been caring for her for about 4 years now and have had to watch the lively and full of energy lady slowly deteriorate into the frail 87 year old she has (very quickly) become.  Until about 4 years ago K was in her 80's but appeared to be in her 50-60s.  Energetic, a worker and full of pith and Vinegar.  After the sad passing of her husband K has come to rely on me for everything, emotional support, assistance and general help, and I am happy (and more than willing) to aid her.
I should probably explain the relationship as K is no blood relation at all.  Instead K and her husband were surrogate parents to my father from when he was 13.  As such K and T were there from day one (once I came along) and as such were and still are an 'extra' pair of Grandparents to me.  with the passing of both my Grandparents on my Dad's side, and my Grandmother on my mother's side it has meant I have felt more responsible than ever for K's well-being as I'm pretty much all she has got now.

anyway the reason for this blog is more than anything to allow me the opportunity to 'vent' be it the bad stuff or the good I think it may assist me in keeping my own rather pedestrian brain in order.  If anyone should read it please feel free to comment or ask any questions.  I will start on the actual 'daily docu-soap' of caring for her tomorrow so here's hoping it's a 'good' night tonight as we can't last many more 'bad' ones.
